Originally, the Greek colonists from Sibari founded the city and gave it the name of Poseidonia. The archaeological park of Paestum is a site to visit all year round, in fact is one of the most important archaeological centers in Italy. It is located on the south coast of the Gulf of Salerno. On the visitor, the Greek temples of Paestum arouse majesty and grandeur and is particularly striking at sunset. Strong emotions give the Temple of Neptune, the Basilica, and the Temple of Ceres. Also of great impact is the adjacent museum, which houses the materials found during the excavations of the surrounding necropolis and in the sanctuary of Hera.
